When to feed new ball python?

I got my new baby ball python and he has been in his tank since tuesday morning, he has seemed to settle in well now, sleeping in his hide all day, then coming out at night to move around. my question is how long do you wait to try and feed your new snakes? i am a bit concerned as he looks a little scrawny, thanks!

The consensus is usually a week. However, I will attempt on my normal feeding day. If they take it (they usually do) great! If they don't, I wait till next weeks feeding day. When I attempt the first feed, if they are quick to refuse it or act stressed, I don't push the issue.

I offer the next day I do feeding for all my snakes. Sometimes this ends up being the same day an animal comes in and more often than not they feed without a problem.

Re: When to feed new ball python?

I ask the previous owner when the snake ate last, and if it is time to eat I wait 24 hours and try to feed. I feed f/t rats and can usually tell if they are interested within 20 seconds or so. A bunch of snakes eat the day after I get them. If not, I wait 4 or 5 days and try again.
    Good luck.

Re: When to feed new ball python?

I generally wait a week to feed. After, the first week, I put them on the same feeding rotation that my others are on.
