DIY Hide Boxes - Cheap and Good Looking(I think!)

    Hi everyone!

Since I've been a member here I've mostly asked questions and taken hints and tips from other people. So I decided I would post a quick thread about the two Hides I just made. I know the DIY Hide thing has been done several times but it seems people on this forum like DIY, and since I think these hides look cool and they're extremely ease and cheap to make I thought maybe you guys would enjoy it.

Anyway, I'll post the steps I'll explain what I did, and then post the pictures afterwards. Once you see the pictures you'll understand the explanations and it really becomes very easy!

    Step 1:

I marked out where I wanted my door to go. All I did was draw a center line down the front of the pot with a magic marker, and then I marked off the width I wanted on either side of the line. All I did then was to draw and arch from the center line to the bottom on either side to get a somewhat even door.

    Step 2:

This is the trickiest part of the whole operation! I took a hack saw and cut through the thick bottom "rim" of the pot, until I hit the soft plastic part. All I did then was to score over the lines of the door a few times to make a cut about half way through the plastic with a sharp pointed pocket knife. Then I took the saw and cut all the way down the center line to the top of the door. I now had two plastic flaps that I broke off by pushing the tabs up and down until the snapped at the score line. All you do then is take an emery board or fine file and sand down the plastic to make sure it's smooth and pet safe.

    Step 3:

I decided I wanted the grassy plants to be at the bottom of the hides and the leafy ones on top. So I just went around the pot with the flowers and glue gun until it was covered the way I wanted it.

That's all there is too it. The hides will be easy to clean and disinfect since it's all plastic you can rinse it in a mild disinfectant or bleach solution and then rinse it thoroughly in water, or just run it under hot water until it's clean. The glue isn't afraid of water so there shouldn't be any problem!!

Anyway, onto the Pictures, please let me know what you guys think!!
