    Well started

    Hello everyone,

My 9 year old son and I are researching and doing our homework before possibly getting a ball python as a pet and this site and everyone here have been a great help, so thanks to everyone here.

One thing that we see when looking at available ball pythons is the term "well started." Despite searching through posts and using the search function we haven't been able to determine exactly what it means. Can anyone help us out?

    Thanks!

    Jake

It's a term that doesn't have an exact definition... basically it is a young snake that is eating and is starting to put on some weight (as apposed to a hatchling practically straight out of the egg) Not everyone uses this term

Personally I consider a BP "well started" if it is eating, and weighs 200-300 grams (a few months old) but as I said to different people it means different things.

    Re: Well started

Aaron is right, it's a general phrase that means the BP hatchling is eating well and gaining weight. If you are interested in a specific animal, ask the breeder how many meals it has had, what it is eating (mice fuzzies and rat crawlers or pups are different ends of the spectrum, live vs. F/T), hatch date, and what its hatch and current weights are. This will give you an indication of how "well started" the baby is.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I figured but just wanted to make sure.
