    Suggestions?

A friend of ours dropped off a 55 gallon tall tank the other day. They were keeping fish in it, but the center support/cross thing split on the top, so when they fill it more than 1/2 with water it starts bowing out. It'll still hold a little water, but definitely a reptile tank now (they knew who to bring it to ). I've been wracking my brain as to what I want to do with it, I'm not a huge tank fan myself but for pet-only animals it'll work. Dimensions (eyeballed) seem to be about 50-60" L/18-20" D/24"H. I'm trying to think of semi-arboreal colubrids that would display nicely, and I -love- beauty snakes, but can't find any CB Vietnamese or Yunnan at the moment. Maybe red tail green rats? I know there are more but those are the only two I know more than nothing about. I've been waiting to get a tank for a BTS, but this doesn't have the floorspace for it.

If nothing else, I can plant it and have a nice terrarium

What about some green tree frogs, they eat crickets, and you can have real plants in there with them. It's daily fun to spot them, they have great camoflage

With a proper cover and some black covering on three sides, a russian rat snake would do well in there.

They will gladly make use of the climbing space and like cooler temps. They are very user friendly animals..........

What about laying the tank on it's side and building a door for the opening instead of a lid. then you would have almost double the floor space.

I thought about it! I'm just not crazy about amphibians. Someday maybe a pixie frog (who can resist a mouth with legs? ) but I'm much more comfortable with snakes

Fantastic, I'll give them a look. User friendly is always a plus, haha

It fits perfectly in one of our house alcoves as is, and seeing as we're short on shelf space already it's just a matter of convenience
