Ummm is this to many for one mom ?

So my rat breeding is going well after her 3rd little little Lucy dropped me a HUGE litter of 20

So the question is should I just leave them alone and let her do her thing will they all make it ok?
Or should I cull a few of them and thin it down a little?
Thanks in advance as always guys

Do you have another mom with a small litter? You can place a few with her, if so, since they usually don't mind fostering. Since they have only 12 nipples, there will be some that won't grow as fast as others, and momma will have to work really hard to feed them all. So I'd bring it down to 15 or so, either cull or rat foster program.

Re: Ummm is this to many for one mom ?

My one mom dropped 16 last litter. She was constantly reorganizing the babies. Always moving 3 or 4 babies to there own little nest. Not sure if she was trying to kill them or just trying to keep track of who to feed. unfortunately I will never know because they were the perfect size to feed to my baby Boas .
