Ready to pair?

My healthy female has just shed, but has skipped her last two meals. Can this mean she is ready to pair? I tried palpating, but I have no clue what I am doing! LOL

Thats not an indication.aslong as she has the age and weight you can pair her anytime

If you haven't paired her palpating is unnecessary since she won't have grown any follicles yet.

Females going off feed is not an indicator of being ready to breed, that's a rumor that never seems to go away.
This time of year, females that are typically bred in season are ravenous and want to eat more not less.
I have females practically lunging out of their tubs to snatch up their meals because they know what's coming.

I have had to watch my hands the last couple weeks, a few of the big girls a flying out of their tubs! It's pretty darn exciting...

Correct, after I paired my albino female yesterday I did a quick check on some of the girls and felt some small follicle growth.

I notice with most of mine, when they are growing follicles they will also be feeding well, when they ovulate, this throws them off feed. (not saying yours ovulated) I use an ultrasound and watch follicle growth which helps me determine when to ease up with the feedings.

She had been eating quite well prior to last 2 feedings. Could she have ovulated in Sept?

Actually, the Barkers talk about females going off feed indicating a desire to breed in their book.

Yeah, which is odd because all of my breeding females will breed for months before going off feed....
Maybe in the wild that works that way, but not in my tubs...
