Good sign, or just wishful thinking? (Pics)

She's been bred since early July, with multiple (and long!) locks with a male normal. Both animals are normals, as it seems my spider male just isn't interested (or just won't breed if I'm watching, hahah. Only time will tell if he's done the nasty.) She's been soaking like this for about a week and a half now, as well as bowl wrapping and generally seeking the cold side.

To give you an idea of size, that bowl is roughly 6.5-7 inches in diameter.

Also, this is the male she's breeding with. Taken in the sun, he's not that bright/brown. He's also still got a few hundred grams to gain before he's at a healthy weight, he was even thinner when I took him in last December, but he breeds just fine (he's ALWAYS trying to get out to get with the female.)



And here's the celebating spider male who just doesn't get it. About 800g+ and he hasn't got a clue, lol.

Try to take a sperm plug from your normal male and wipe it on her neck just behind the head then put in the spider. That may help get him going

An other method to get a male to lock with your female is to get a shed skin from another one of your males (better to use multiple sheds from multiple males) and get them wet and put them in the tub with the male and the female. It gives the male the impression that he is battling with other males over the female so he will want to lock with her.

The OP didn't ask about how to get the snakes to lock. From his post it seems they have already locked many times successfully.

How long had it been since you were pairing the normal to when you paired the spider? Do you think it could be pre-ovulating behavior? That could be why the spider isn't showing any interest.

I've been pairing the Spider to her since July, and I never witnessed any locks. I threw the normal male in with her just to see if he'd get it done, and the sure as heck did! Their first lock lasted well over 48 hours, hahah.

Anyway, as someone mentioned, I didn't originally post about methods to get the spider to breed, I'm just trying to find out if her excessive soaking is a good sign. I appreciate the encouragement tips for the spider though! He needs to step up his game, lol.
