    Citrus Pastel Genetics?

Are they the same as a regular Pastel's with combos and such?

Pastel X Citrus Pastel = Super Pastel

    Citrus Pastel X Fire = ? Firefly ?

    Citrus Pastel X Pinstripe = ? Lemonblast ?

Hopefully someone knows what i'm getting at...

Citrus is just another line of pastel. Like Lemon, Blonde, Graziani etc.

If the animal was produced using the Citrus pastel gene, then to properly label the animal, you must mention the Citrus gene. This way, you let everyone know what line of pastel you're using. People say VPI or TSK or Joliff axanthic when describing the lines since some are incompatible. The other morphs are no different.

The question I think you're trying to avoid is "do they look the same?". The answer would be no.

Citrus pastels appear to be just another line of pastel. Citrus pastels popped out the whiteout gene, so many of them have the whiteout look. To my knowledge we still don't quite know whats going on with the whiteout gene. But as far as the pastel part, works the same as any other pastel.

    Re: Citrus Pastel Genetics?

Pastel x Citrus Pastel = Citrus Super Pastel

Citrus x Fire = Citrus Firefly

Citrus x Pinstripe = Citrus Lemonblast

Citrus is just a line of Pastel. They are hot right now so when people make Citrus combos they like to label them as such and with good reason.

I wouldn't call a Citrus Pastel X Pastel a citrus Super Pastel. It would be a normal Super Pastel

If you are mixing in other lines of pastels you should not call it citrus. Same with other lines of pastel, if you cross lemon with some random pastel you find, you should not call it a lemon anymore. These lines of pastel were bred for selective traits and by not keeping them within the same line of high quality pastels you are undoing the intentions of the breeder.

A Citrus x Citrus would be a Super Citrus Pastel, where as Citrus x Pastel would be Citrus Super Pastel. Meaning it's a Super Pastel but only half Citrus. I know Jon @ Breeder's Circle classifies it like this. He's got a Citrus Super Pastel Calico, which is 1 part Citrus 1 part regular Pastel. I believe Amir classifies his crosses like this as well and they are his line of Pastels. I see nothing wrong with doing that as long as the buyer is aware of how it works and knows that he can NOT call any offspring Citrus because you can not tell them apart with certainty. I would personally not even cross the two different lines unless I was going to just label it Super Pastel, so I see your point.
