BP has escaped!

Hi everyone.

As the title says, my BP has escaped. We're not sure when, but it is possible it has been out for 18 hours.

I assume it is still in this room, as this room is the warmest in the house. And I have checked everywhere in this room, except under the bed, as the bed cannot be moved. I can only assume it is under the bed.

How can we catch this snake in the next hour or so? One of my family members is terrified of snakes, and is extremely panicked.

Check every little place he could squeeze into. They usually do not go far.

I found a cornsnake I lost 3 weeks later outside under my rabbits hutch, he is alive had a couple nice sized lumps in his belly(mice not bunnies lol)

Never give up they can pop up where you don't expect them to. Remeber BP's like nice tight places.

I have checked everywhere in this room he could get into, except under the bed. And it has had all of the places he could squeeze through barricaded with towels for the past eight hours.

My buddy lost one of his BP's once and he placed a 10 gallon aquarium in the middle of the room with a heating pad under it and a water bowl inside. Took awhile, but the snake went in when she started getting cold. In your case, I would start by removing as much of the bed as possible and do your best to look under it. BP's(or snakes in general) will surprise you as to where they will hide. The darker and smaller the better. Good luck!

It's not under the bed, I can only conclude it's not in this room. We have cats elsewhere in the house, do they pose any danger to the snake, or the snake to them?

In a word - yes.

The snake more to the cat though. I think most cats get the idea that they don't want to fudge around with a snake relatively quickly once they realize what they're dealing with. The snake, however, ain't gonna' mess with the cat unless it feels threatened. So, as long as you've got relatively smart cats, you should be OK. But, I guess if you hear a panicked cat, you'll have found the snake.... That's not funny, I'm sorry.

I honestly doubt that the cat is any danger from the snake. In all reality, you need to be more concerned about what the cat will do to the poor snake. Cats have a high prey drive and will kill an animal and "play" with it also. BP's do not have any intersest in cats, trust me.

Not so much, the snake can't hurt the cat... But the cat can very easily kill the snake.

To the OP try to confine the cats to a single room (and make sure that the snake isn't in said room) keep all doors shut in an effort to keep the snake where it is, then systematically search room by room.

I'm going to copy this little narrative from another thread since it worked for that person.

"It's time to think like a snake! I like warm dark places where I can curl up and not be disturbed. Think about how I would get out of my enclosure. The path I would take once I had escaped. I try to get down to the floor. I'll slither across desks and shelves and into piles of laundry. I'm usually pretty close to where I normally live, but I can travel into other rooms if the door is open! I'm going to get nice and comfy here wherever I am..You'll find me eventually!"

I think OP means shoving towels under the cracks of the door.
