    A Good Starter?

So, I am thinking about dabbling in breeding in the future. I am talking years from now, right now I don't have the means, I know that I am not going to push it, so don't blast me. I want to get into it to learn and better understand the animals, even now I am not intensely interested in money (if I can make some then more power to me, but I will enjoy it as a hobby rather than a money making machine) I was just curious what kinds of pairings people started off with, something that COULD make money, but like I said, I don't really stress about that. I just want to know what I could start off with. This won't be for a while, part of it is going to be having more space (which is my first step) after that I am going to figure everything out, but I want an opinion on what I could do to kick start in oh... 3-4 years, maybe 5. Thanks in advance!

    Re: A Good Starter?

I'm in the same boat. I plan on doing my first pairs next fall when my girls are big enough. I'm doing it more to play with the genetics rather than for the money. But as to what to start with? Pick something you'll enjoy producing. There's no fulfillment in breeding if you can't have fun with it. For me, I WANT to produce lesserbees, so I'll be pairing my lesser boy with my spider girl.

Well I like spiders... And pieds... Not sure how that would work entirely but those are the morphs that I find enjoyable to look at. Right now I have my good old normal, I ain't gonna knock em! He is adorable. The breeder i got him from says he is full normal, is there anything I could do with him in the future?

It's all up to you, I like long term projects so my first pairing is my ressisive project(black pastel het albino Albino) and my short term is killer bee x pastel lesser(want some killer queen bees). Codoms can sell quicker but lose value quicker ressisives hold value longer. Just look at albinos they been around for a long time and females usually cost more or same price as a female bumble bee.

females are always more expensive than the males, which is part of the reason why I am planning early. I am still young, money will be an issue for the foreseeable future so saving is a MUST for me. I can take care of them but buying some of the more exotic morphs is a hell of a time, so I would kind of like to get hets (cheaper) but after successful breeding you get beautiful results, depending on what the het is for I would like to mix it further with another morph... But what morphs go well after that is something I am not sure about. I am not looking to have a huge project, but a smaller one that I can keep going long term, maybe 2 or 3 breeding sets, no more.

Now one question I have is whether or not different morphs do not mix well together. I have heard that with some species of animals mixing certain morphs can create some serious problems. Is this the same with BPs? Please understand I am not being intentionally dumb, I just want to learn as much as I can for as long as I can!
