Cooling isnt really necessary. I personally dont plan to; however, go ahead if you want to.

I agree, cooling isn't something you have to do. Cooling scares me because breeding already stresses their immune system and dropping temps can result in RIs. IMO I would reconsider how low your hot side is, at the very least make sure the cool side doesn't get too cool. I let ambient temps adjust the tub temps, but I don't want the cool side to go under 75.

I don't cool. I do 3 days on 4 days off. Unless I see a lock before, then they come out when they're unlocked. I do this so all the boys stay on the same schedule.

If you cool, do it gradually like 2 degree drop every week so that the animal can adjust.

A quick drop on the hot side can stress the animal

More or less. Some people breed year round, other just in the winter months. They seem to generally breed better in the winter months November through March. I really think ambient temp change is enough to do it for them. They also really like storms, so pair them up during a storm, or right before a storm.

I don't cool either and prefer not to. As stated the chance for a RI is increased and i have found over the years that great a great success rate can be had without cooling.

As for pairing, you can start now, Nov, Dec.. etc. Its really up to you and your snakes. Last year i had a female get her first lock dec 31 and ovyed in may.. only two locks that i saw. Remember it only takes one so dont stress if you're not seeing the 8+ locks other threads are talking about.

Pair until ovy and if you're not sure if you saw an ovy then keep pairing, the snakes know more then we do
