I just went from one snake to three snakes. I am a bit OCD about fire prevention since I had a heat tape failure 12 years ago which, fortunately, never turned into a fire, but scared me nonetheless.
My snake room has a fire extinguisher for "shop/garage" which apparently includes electrical rating. I also had Broadview add a monitored smoke detector to the room. I also use a redundant double Ranco on/off thermostat to protect the animals from failure in the primary thermostat unit.
Am I missing anything? I am wondering if there's anything else you guys do (besides checking temps and equipment daily). Specifically, do you use surge protectors, or just the usual cheapo power strip?
Thanks. Just trying to do everything I can to keep things safe and avoid equipment failure and/or fire.
