    Back on rats!

When I first got Shayla, she would not eat for me for a while. Of course, I worried, an started feeding her mice (she would accept the mice but NEVER the rats).

Well today I went to an expo, and picked up rats for my one rat eater. Omg were they cheap :o I paid $1.30 for small rats, where as in the pet store it's $4 per small rat/rat pup.

I thought id over Shayla one to see what happens. She didn't eat last time because she was in blue but oh my did she gobble that rat right up!

Haha sorry for the useless thread, I'm just so stoked.

I have never given my ball pythons rats, I had a BP when I was younger and we only ever gave him mice, lots and lots of mice generally, he really enjoyed them but we never saw a need to switch him to rats because he always enjoyed mice.
My new little guy is still on fuzzy mice, going to work on switching him to f/t though, in the hopes of saving a little cash and to make sure that it's easier to store them. Though I don't really object to live feeding being able to store food before I give it to him is a real plus.

My girl is over 2500g. I'd much rather be feeding her one appropriately sized rat then multiple mice.

    That is a big one.

As well when we had him it was a little harder to get frozen thawed, none of the local pet shops carried them. so he was fed live. He was a family pet, and the Family didn't want to have him hurt so they just left it with mice. Generally I took care of the feeding but my family bought them, I didn't have quite as much say.
