Anyone Use A Utility Room For A Snake Room?

Right now, my racks are all in one of the bedrooms. However, I have discovered that the utility room (where the water heater is) is quite large and has more than enough room. There are even outlets in there. I was originally just going to use it as storage but I have a shed and a crawl space basement for that.

I understand that I would probably need to have a heater in there during the winter to keep the ambient temps up.

So before I move forward much on this I was wondering if anyone else uses such places?

My snake room is actually the back section of my garage. I built a wall and insulated it, but there are no windows or vents in the room. I run an oil filled radiator in the winter and a fan in the summer and it works out perfectly. I'm in and out of the room often enough to move fresh air in and out, so the ventilation isn't an issue. I think a utility room would be fine as long as you can manage the temps.

My snakes are kept in the basement which is mostly unfinished. I actually keep them in a sectioned off area behind the water heater etc. and they have been doing very well there for years.

I have a 16X20 out building that was there when we bought the house and well it works great once in while it gets a little warm in the summer but in the winter heating is not an issue. As for you space I see a snkae room in the future

Hahaha Chris has got a new house with so much space he doesnt know what to do with it all!!!

I would put all the baby racks in there bc itll be darker for them to make them feel more secure. Also dont babies like it a little bit cooler? Id still run an oil filled heater if you need to though. But that extra couple degrees cooler and that darkness may be a good way to get babies eating faster for you.
