Hey everyone im new here but i recently got a BP and love him, he is very active but the last two days he has been in a bottle i places in his cage with a little water in it even to feed him i have to pry him out of this bottle he ate great but just sits in the bottle all day and night, before this he used to attempt to get out of the cage and explore the cage a bit. but i wanted to know should i be worried? is he sick? or am i paranoid? i think he is about to shed so could this be why? help please

A hiding BP is a happy BP seeing them out and active during the day is actually a sign of stress.

What exactly do you mean by bottle? Can you post a picture of your cage?

And just to make sure everything else is good can you tell us what you are using for a cage, how you are heating your cage, what you are using to measure temperatures/humidity with, and what your current temperatures/humidity level are?

Your bp should be hiding. Many new keepers think they have a snake problem because they never see them move around. That is how a bp is. A hiding bp is a happy bp.

What kind of bottle are you speaking of? Pic? I can't get the idea of a improper hide out of my head.

sweet thanks guys sorry for the delay, well i don't have a camera but it is just a 20oz bottle that held water i took off the paper label and cut a bigger hole in the top i made sure the edges were smooth and when i put it in there he loved it! stayed in it for days... is this not a good idea? should i remove it?
also do you have any tips on raising humidity? it stays at 50-60% but he looks like he is about to shed so i would like to bump it up more any tips?

i purchased the Zilla terrarium kit it is a 10g tank with day/night bulb i layer it with paper towels then about an inch of aspen bedding
i have a temperature / humidity gauge hung mid level in the tank
the temp is 80-83 in the day and 75-80 at night

also one last thing (haha i feel like a new parent ) about three days after i got my BP he turned bluish and i thought would be shedding soon but since it has been over a month and no shed, he eats great! but the last 3 days he has grey/white eyes and is very bluish and did not eat when i attempted to feed him, does this mean i should expect a shed? if so how long until the shedding starts? and when should i attempt to feed him again?

sorry for all the questions i just want to make sure im doing the right thing i <3 my Samson!

When my bp in going into shed try to put you're humidity up to around 70% - 80% range, im also quite new, ive had mine for about 4 to 5 months now and im getting the hang of it, also look for this, if her tummy is going pinkish, thats a sign of shedding, but the best way to know is her eyes, if there blue/milky then she is going to shed, her shed should come out in one piece, if it doesn't then i reccomend getting zoo-meds shedding aid, spray it all over her and make sure on the eye caps, you will not hurt your snake. hope this helps

ALSO! Try not to feed her in shed, she wont starve, yes she is going into shed. she cant see you be careful handling, my advice is dont hold her in this stage.

to increase the humidity just spray the cage with HOTTT water, make sure ur spray bottle is mist if you dont have one, take luke warm water and pour over the bottom of the cage.

yeah i didnt even notice until i held it and when it unraveled from the ball it was in i seen his eyes were very milky, ok so i will not hold him until the full shedding is complete? also i shouldn't attempt a feed until this is complete?

also how long does the entire shedding process take?

At least for my crew, their eyes stay blue for about 3 days and then 2-3 days after their eyes return to normal, I open up their tubs to see a shed skin. I should also add that some can take over a week to shed, some as short as a day. It really depends on the snake but most average 2-3 days after their eyes return to normal.
