Most of you read about my snake that died last week. Well, some of you advised me to jump right back in and get another one. So I took your advice! I talked to the Snake Keeper yesterday (Dan Sutherland), and purchased a nice little normal. I saw a picture of him. He's got a really nice color and looks very healthy. He's about 6 months old, and weighs 189 grams. I'm not actually getting him for a few weeks though, so I'll have lots of time to get everything set up perfect for him. The only thing I'm worried about is I've got this big old tank, a 30 gallon I think. Will that be too big for this snake? I know he'll grow into it, but I don't want to overwhelm him. Anyway, I still miss Monty, but I'm really excited about my new purchase!

He should be fine in the 30 gallon, just make sure you have two waters, two hides.

my peanut has lived in a 30 gallon since she was about that size. she's currently about 600 grams and still chillin' in the 30. i'll probably move her when shes full grown, but not until then.

That's great, gen! With the 30 gal you might want to add an extra hide or several fake plants to that he feels secure in his new place as they can be overwhelmed by too much space and not enough hides, but it's not like you're putting him into a huge display case or anything so he'd probably be fine without any changes at all.

I've looked at those pics at the SnakeKeeper...and their "normals" are gorgeous! I can't wait to see pics of yours! I'm very happy for you!

I was going to say the same thing Marla just said. If he seems a little stressed in the 30gal, then just add another hide or two, and some fake ivy that he can "sneak" around in. That'd probaby make for a very happy snake.
