    Question Temperament Question...Males vs Females

Are females just generally pissier than males? I am just curious...my male spider and male pastel are just chill, no worries about reaching into cages etc....but my female spider, sheesh she swells up every time you even open the lid.....she is in shed right now but I had to go in to change out water and raise the humidity level in her tank and she hissed loudly abot a dozen times the whole time I was doing what needed done.....now i know they are crankier during shed times and I normally don't mess with them at all unless I have no choice.....she wasn't like this when we first got her....she was pretty docile, a little head shy, but thats it.....ok short story as to why I think she got so pissy.....

idiot neighbor brings his idiot friend into my house to talk to my husband....kids have the snakes out.....idiot friend of neighbor wants to hold one....i don't think much of it so i said sure.....well after a while, and by now she is alway the way down in his pearl snap shirt, which is tucked into his pants and he starts trying to tell me she bit him....yeah ok.....he never yelped or jumped or anything and his shirt was white....think there would be some evidence...anyways...my husband gets her and goes to put her back in her tank.....he also needs to put the hides back in as well and she is kinda where he needed to be working...well at this point she is stressed from the idiot friend being, well and idiot....so hubby is trying to work her back out of the corner she was in and she started puffing up and stuff....well idiot friend says I got this I got this, I used to wrangle rattlesnakes.......and before my husband can do anything dude is crouched down like he is Steven Irwin...God rest his soul.....slapping at the head of my female spider..... I was not in the room, or it would have been a really bad night....my husband has a little more self control than I do....hubby looked at idiot friend ans was like WTF are you doing.....she hasn't been the same since.....:cens0r:@#$%@#$% has since been banned from my house and poor hubby has had to keep from "takin it outside" a few times we have seen him since(he is always at the neighbors house)....

but anyway.....seriously though.....are females more temperamental than males just as a rule, or is it really just luck of the draw.....or random acts of muppetism....

Yeah there is no difference, it's all luck of the draw and depends on the individual snake, not the sex.

Just depends on the individual snake, and their personality. I have both a male and female that are sweet as pie.

    Re: Temperament Question...Males vs Females

Thanks for the input guys.....she calms down after a few minutes of handling but we were still wary of her lol...and we don't let the kids handle her....she is just a little more cantankerous than my boys....the worst part is getting her out but i bought a snake hook for that....it telescopes though so is almost rendered useless with her already because of her size...need one that's a solid shaft.

You don't need a snake hook. I actually don't recommend it because they aren't that big and believe the thought of getting bit is WAY worse than actually getting bit. Jus don't reach in front of it's face
