    Curiousity or something else?

So I have the "looks like a baby still", Skade. She is a normal who is about 2 years and small for her age due to a bad foster situation. She's putting on weight beautifully and doing well. She's my permanent baby, and has been probed in the past to know she was female.

I also took on a foster for the month, we call him Ludo. He came with no knowledge on his past or anything. He's much larger, I would guess him between 2-3 lbs, as I don't have a scale but just judging by picking him up. We don't truly know he's male, just a guess.

They normally can't see one another. Skade's aquarium is above his and stepped back (think a tier shelving system style).

The last couple times I've taken one or the other out and the opposite snake is out and about in their own tank, the other has taken a notice.

Skade will just stare at Ludo for a bit. If I walk away with her, she doesn't strive to see him still.

Ludo, though, will crane his neck, pull towards the tank and stare at her. Neither are tongue flicking or anything, just staring. In a curious move tonight, I stood there with Ludo in hand, and let him stare at her through the tank. When I dropped my hand (and thus his body) lower, he stretched equally higher to keep her in sight, and even almost seemed to move around a bit, almost in a dance (think snake charming?)

I am just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on what their up to. She's way too little to breed, so I wouldn't even consider that, but would he be able to realize she's not breeding worthy yet? Is this a mating thing? Or is it more of a curiousity between them or what? Or do we not know?

I'm just personally curious more than anything. I wouldn't put them in a tank together or anything, just super curious.

And now that they're both in their tanks and active, he almost looks like he's trying to scale the sides of his to get to her!

If he is in fact male it wouldn't surprise me if he is looking for a lady friend . Since your female sounds small, it would probably be best to keep them apart so you don't get any unexpected babies! haha

They might be facing off.... ive heard of people breeding several males to one female have the males kind of have a standoff to see who gets first picks. Interesting.
Do you think maybe if you put them of a bed together to see if they continue doing this?

The only way I'd put them together is to have 1-2 more experienced handlers with me. If I were to keep Ludo, I'd probably have him probed and go from there. He is a curious little guy, and almost exact opposite personality to Ms Skade. She's a timid little hiding girl and he loves to come out and play. I admit it's fun to have the opposing personalities but I just don't connect with him enough to keep him. Though when he gets his home, I hope I can find someone who'll keep me updated on my first "little" foster.

Well, BP's have very poor eyesight, so unless he was really close odds are he can't really see her. More likely he's trying to decide if her habitat is bigger or better than his.

Sometimes one of mine will show interest in another. Usually on feeding day when the tubs are right next to each other and one has a rat while the other does not. The I get a lot of, "If he doesn't want that, I'll take it!" behavior.

Well they were within 6 inches of one another, with the glass between them, so unless their site is worse than that...
