Strange behavior

The past few days mrSocks has been acting kind of weird, he is like half way out of his hide on the cold side, and when I approach the tank he kinda of rears up and stares at me. Im assuming its because he is still new and everything but i dont want to stress him out and everything, Im worried about the little guy and hope ik not doing something wrong. Here is a picture,

That is pretty normal. They will poke out of their hides from time to time, usually at night if they are hungry. Just leave him be, he is fine

Looks like mr. socks has some stuck shed though! I would try and take care of that.

I have only has him a week, and I didnt want to handle him till I felt he would be comfortable with me. But I asked the girl I got him from and she said she didnt know :/ so im unsure. I dont want to stress him out any more than he already is. I only enter his cage to change his water and thats usually around the same time every morning.

Well the stuck shed, and the possibility that he is going to go into shed soon could make him extra jumpy. Leaving him alone is very good. Covering 3 sides of his cage with something to make them opaque will also help if you haven't done so already (black construction paper, or even regular printer paper works great)

You can make a hand towel damp with warm water (water temperature in the mid 80's. Remember what feels warm to us warm blooded humans will feel very hot to a cold blooded snake) The let your BP slither through the towel while you apply some light pressure. This should get most of the stuck shed off while inducing as little stress as possible.

Well tonight, was the first time he took a poo. And every sense he has done that he is roaming like crazy haha, have been for about an hour now. I just started to handling him yesterday and try to get him more comfortable. Do you think he is stressing or hungry for feeding tomorrow? I really hope he is not stressing cause when I touch him and pick him up he doesn’t tense or flinch or anything and he seems really comfortable around me, when I opened his cage yesterday to clean it out he came to my face about 2 inches away haha. Another thing is he keeps like cramming his head up against the screen in the corner of his tank. SO is it stress or hunger?

whats your hot side cool side temps at? if thats in order then its probally just being in a new place or hes hungry

Sticking his had near the screen could be the snake just looking for a way out. If they can find a way to escape they will.

Before adding anything moist or misting the tank I would take the rocks off of the cardboard hide. It looks like a fine hide and I can see you are trying to make it more naturalistic but if the box gets to most it will collapse under the weight of the rocks. Now the rocks may not be heavy enough to hurt your snake but I wouldn't chance it.

Try cutting a tupperware container to make a hide. The hole could even be on top and you could stack the rocks around it for a more natural look. With a container that is wide, short, and flat bottomed you could cut a hole in the bottom. Dig out the substrate to put the container deeper in it and then cover the sides and most of the upward facing bottom to make a hide that seems like a natural cave. If you placed your rocks around it to cover the container it would not be to much to pick it up to check on your snake.

Pretty normal behavior for a ball. I would either soak him a little to get that stuck shed off or try wetting some paper towels and put them in his tank, he will rub through those and that will help get the shed off as well. Hope this helps.
