Craig and Clyde's Vet Visit
So I took both my boys to the vet today for check ups and fecal tests. The vet was really cool and told me about how he has been a reptile vet for 25+ years and that he used to breed BPs and other pythons. Seemed pretty knowledgeable. The only thing he said that didn't sit well with me was that I should only feed them every other week not every week. He said they are both "chunky"....I was like dude they both have meals in them lol. I know a few years back it was believed that they needed to be fed a lot less often. I understand he is a vet and all but based on numerous of you all on here I have to say I don't agree with him. They are both still babies and the general consensus seems to be every 5-7 days and I think I have even seen people say 10 days.

When they are older 10 is a good number but when they are smaller 5-7 days is fine

Um, why would you schedule a vet visit when you knew the snakes would have full tummies, or, why would you feed the snakes when you knew they had a vet visit scheduled? That's just asking for problems.
I feed my adults every 10-14 days.

Every other week is more of a boa feeding schedule. Pythons are a bit different. Especially ball pythons since they will often stop eating at some point due to weather, breeding, etc..
Of course, you still don't need to overfeed. Meaning huge meals that are hard for the snake to easily get down.

Yeah tbh I feed my babies every 4-5 days and will be feeding them every 7-10 days when they get about 600 grams

Re: Craig and Clyde's Vet Visit
I had an "experienced reptile vet" tell me that one of my BPs might be septic because his belly was pink...didn't seem to notice that his eyes were blue, too... That was the last time I went there. Not that your example is nearly that ridiculous, but it's funny the range in good/bad information from people who give themselves that title.

Ohhhh, in your original post it sounded as though they had just eaten. You're right, 3 days is not too early to be handling

Yea it wasn't so much that he didn't know what he ead talking about as it was just that his info seemed dated. Based on whay i've read in' research on here and other sites, some of what he said is how things were done a few years ago.

No lol I got a bit defensive when he called my boys chunky. I was like hey they're not chunky....they both have partially digested critters in there! lol
