    cleveland reptile show

Anyone going? I know its a small show but I don't get to make it to very many shows because of my work schedule. I'm getting ready to head out in a few minutes. Pretty excited and hope I won't be disappointed.

    Re: cleveland reptile show

Just got back. Man it took everything I had not to bring home a medium white pied female. Had a few to choose from for $600-$700. I was looking for a male and the ones I liked were all $800+. But I did manage to trade my Russian tortise for a hatchling female spider. So I'm happy with that. It's a small show but it was packed with people and animals. Noone there was selling live feeders except for the African crack furs. Anyway lets see if anyone else went and what they picked up there.

Not sure of his name, but the old guy across from the Kick's (AKA "The Wall Of Death") was selling live mice from pinks to small adults, but I didn't see any other live rodents. Did you see how much they wanted for those ASF? $5!?!?!?! I couldn't help but laugh. What a rip off. I pay $1.40 in town. Were you the guy with the Russians in the tub outside by the steps? I was the guy with the goatee/short hair in the Turbid North shirt/camo shorts hanging out with the portly guy with a scraggly beard. Kinda hard to miss us.

I wasn't really planning on going, but my buddy needed a ride. I left with some crickets from Dave Grunning and a dozen live mouse hoppers. Kinda broke at the moment since we just bought a house, otherwise I'm sure I would have left with a lot more. It was nice seeing Reddog Reptiles and Special K vending this go around. Always had great luck with them.

Lmao ya I had the green tub with the Russians in it. I traded them to the guy that always has the glass aquariums full of lizards and turtles for a female spider. I haven't been to the Cleveland show in over a year. Always nice seeing special k. I got my sable female from him back in may at the steels city show. I think it was may lol. The wall of death? Is that the one right in front of the food stand?

You traded them to the guy that is on the very back wall that always has several tables and a bunch of tanks right next to Rodent Pro? I sincerely hope not. That is the "Wall Of Death". Do a BOI search on just about any reptile forum for "Fred Kick". He is very well known for his shady business practices, sick animals and scams.

I was there with my daughter, it was our first reptile show. Is that the standard size for most of them? My daughter wanted a pink leapord gecko and I almost came home with that and a sunglow boa!

I didn't want to buy anything by rodent pro because I heard of an alert and couldn't remember what is was for though. What are your thoughts on Rodent Pro because it would be nice to buy monthly without paying for shipping. I have ordered from Layne Labs and just want to be an informed consumer. Thanks!

I have always had good luck with Rodent Pro in the past, but with the outbreak they had recently, the fact that they jacked up their prices at the show to almost twice what they used to be/what they sell online for and the fact that they treated a close friend of mine like complete trash when he tried to place an order, I won't be purchasing from them anymore. Rodent Pro isn't the only f/t vendor at the show. In the other corner on the back wall there is a smaller vender (they mainly have crickets, knives and toys on display) that sells f/t rats and mice. I've dealt with them several times and always been 100% satisfied. They also sell in smaller quantities than Rodent Pro, which is nice sometimes.

There are a lot of local breeders all over Ohio that will hook you up with great feeders. There are several groups on Facebook dedicated to local feeder breeders. We have stepped down from selling feeders for the time being, but that could change in the future. If that happens, we aren't that far from Stow and have always matched prices.

Thanks AK907, smaller quantities definitely works better for me because we only have the two baby snakes and live in an apartment. Eventually we will have space for an additional freezer but right now it would be a pain to store a large bag (and harder to hide). I saw that vendor in the back and didn't even know that they sold f/t, I saw the knives and tried to redirect my little one away from the candy

    Re: cleveland reptile show

I was there as well. I got 1.4 asfs for 15 bucks and a black pastel female for 150 as well as a bunch of f/t rat fuzzies. They did have some cool animals there but it's always so packed in there. Thats the main reason i don't go to it much. Was still fun. And i got a good deal on the black pastel so i'm happy lol
