Regurge 5 days later?

My daughters baby ball python looks like it regurgitated it's meal but it has been 5 days? I have it in a 10 gallon aquarium that I have a problem keeping the temps and humidity right, could that have lead to the regurge? Sorry, I didn't take a pic and noticed that it looked bleached, shrunken but could make out the tail and feet. It has urinated twice and pooped once in the three weeks since we have had it and eaten twice. Thanks for any info and advice on when to offer again. I am looking to get a boaphile to correct housing issues.

A regurge can be triggered by incorrect cage temperatures.

Can you give us some more info about your cage?

What are you using to heat it

What are you measuring temperatures with

What are your cage temperatures/humidity

What substrate do you use/how much

Yes having temp and humidity that is not right can cause it.also stress, over handling, handling to soon after feedin are some other causes.

Wait 10 to 14 days before attempting to feed again and feed a mouse that is half the size of a regular meal.

Make sure to get your husbandry right first though. If you post a pic of the setup and tell us more about your heat sources and equipment we can try to help you more.

I don't know how to attach an image, at least not sure how to use the URL. I have an UTH with the green carpet substrate, moss to retain humidity, a corner water bowl, a digital thermo/hygrog reader along with an attached thermo/hygrog on the other side of the enclosure. There is a tree with multiple hides and a log hide. I have a thermostat on the UTH and keep it at around 94 on the basking spot and the ambient temp reads around 81 on the cool side half way up the enclosure. I have a CHE emitter above the water bowl and a rubbermaid top that covers 5/6 of the screen to retain humidity. On the warm side, humidity ranges from 20 to 60 after I soak the moss or spray. It has been so tricky, and that is why I am thinking about a boaphile when I can afford it.

Are you keeping the UTH at 94 or the inside of the cage?

If its the inside if the cage that is a little warm. 90 would be better.

Log hides are not very good for bp. Get a hide or even make one out of a granola bar box (or the like) that is covered on all sides with only one entrance/exit. This will make it feel more secure and lower it's stress.

If the snakes does not feel secure it may feel as if it may need to flee or fight so they will dump their guts to be ready. Not saying that is what happened just alittle extra info to help you understand your bp.

Also if it is in a high traffic area in your house it can cause stress. The better hides will help with this situation but if you could move it to a less traveled spot that could help relieve stress. Again not saying that is the cause just extra input.

If your numbers are staying about what you listed you should be good. I would suggest using a cypress mulch substrate to help keep your humidity up. With the info you listed it makes me feel like it may be a stress issue.

It's 94 on the top of the green mat but ambient is around mid to low 80s. Some floor spots are reading 78 though with the handheld thermometer (laser type)

I keep her in my daughters room so there is very little traffic and I am teaching her not to bump or wiggle the stand too much

I would agree that 94 is higher than I like. I keep mine at 90. I would suggest turning yours down to that.

Also adding fake plants and drift wood will help your snake feel secure and reduce stress.

if it been 5 days you either have a low temp problem or the hatchling for some reason isn't seeking the warm spot to digest it's food. even if it wasn't a regurg and the hatchling pass this, still shows a temp problem as I just stated. don't feed again for another 10 days, just in case it was a regurg. and offer a little bit smaller meal than normal. regurg is serious and steps need to be taken to prevent it from happening again. the digestive track needs to settle down before feeding again. in the mean time, you need to get the temps in that enclosure corrected. don't make the mistake of going from too low to too high with the temps. no matter what enclosure type you are using. the members on hear are great at helping other members with less experience get it right. good luck with the new snake, don
