    Breeding times per snake

How many times can you breed a single female every year?

I'm not following. Are you meaning how many actually lockups with a male, or how many times can she lay?

If its locks with males, it can be numerous times.

If laying eggs, once a year.

I only know of cornsnakes that can lay twice a year....

OK, was just wondering!!! I have 2 females that still have a lot of time to go before they can reproduce, but I find it better to start coming up with questions and getting them answered and having everything set up way before I get that far!!!! I just want to be much more prepared then when I bought my 1st BP.

Also, when u say they can lock multiple times, are you saying that each time they lock it contributes to the clutch? Like if I were to lock her with a spider and then a mojave she would get some of both, like cats sort of??? Sorry, i just didn't understand that...

There is a chance that you get a dual sired clutch but I dont think it is just that easy. While a female can lay a good clutch with only one lock breeders like to ensure they have as many opportunities to lock to increase the chances of a good healthy clutch and lower the odds of slugs in the clutch.

    Re: Breeding times per snake

It's not quite that cut and dry; this year for example, I've had females lock with a male 10+ times with no eggs, and females that I never witnessed a lock with give me eggs. A lock (or ten) does not guarantee you eggs.
