can't figure out why he is in his water bowl

I just got a baby male reticulated python, I noticed his was staying in his water bowl so I took him out and realized he had mites. SO I treated him with reptile relief and a good soaking after and cleaned his cage and treated that with Prevent a Mite.Well it's been two days and I put his water bowl back last night and when I got up this morning he was back in his water bowl. I took him out and searched him and I don't see any mites. When I noticed the mites originally I moved him into my bedroom and put him on a heat lamp instead of his heat pad. Which increased his hot spot to 91* instead of the 90 I had him at before. The cool side is 83* So I'm really confused as to why he is still in there. any ideas?

He might be dehydrated from not having any water to drink for two days.

I'm sure he is just dehydrated. Next time, leave his water bowl. If you don't want him soaking in it, give him a smaller one.

I only left the water bowl out for 24 hours, I was told to do that because of the PAM

You are right you do want to remove the water bowl to use pam....but you only have to remove it long enough for the spray to dry (20 minuites should be plenty) and if you soaked it in reptile relief it should not be dehydrated from 24 hours without water..... I would say to go back and look through scales closely remember mites hide under scales alot..... I would also continue to treat the cage for mites every 7-10 days for a month just to kill off eggs that are hatching and try to get ahead of the curve

In my experience, two days is nowhere near long enough to get rid of all mites, so he could be soaking to get them out. Keep looking him over whenever you handle him. It can be a long and irritating process to get rid of them, but they'll die eventually.

When my collection got mites, my spider and my burm both soaked incessantly, and as they said above it does generally take a week or two of treatment to really be sure youre rid of them. While I dont think 24 hours without water dehydrate him to any terrible degree, he might just still have been itchy, and at that point any degree of dryness would agitate it even more. I wouldnt worry about it unless he's still soaking in 2-3 weeks.

Thanks for y'alls help I took him out and put him on paper towels, and handled him and still can't find any mites but i'll treat him and the cage again this weekend....
