The moment of truth!
This post is directed to experienced and novice breeders alike.
I'm curious to know a few things from each of you.
1. Why did you start breeding ball pythons?
2. What is the single most memorable moment you had breeding ball pythons?
3. To date what is your greatest sense of accomplishment in terms of breeding?
4. If you no longer breed, what are you reasons?
Like many of the other members on the board I am newer to breeding and look forward to a long and enjoyable hobby filled with great memories, accomplishments and learning experiences.
This is probably one of the most valid quotes I have seen:

Re: The moment of truth!
1. Why did you start breeding ball pythons?
I decided to breed because I wanted a Pied and a Bumblebee at the time both were in the $7500+ needless to say I could not imagine spending that much so I decided to buy some het pieds, a female spider and a male pastel (among a few other things) still ended up costing pretty penny but it was more affordable than acquiring what were at the time my dream snakes.
2. What is the single most memorable moment you had breeding ball pythons?
Hatching my bee and my pieds that's the day when my dream came true and that I truly became addicted. There is no better feeling than looking at one of your animal and being able to say "I made this"
3. To date what is your greatest sense of accomplishment in terms of breeding?
Producing an Enchi Pinstripe Pied with my good friend Robin was my sense of accomplishment, years of work paying off by producing a cool animal and but the best part being able to produce this as a joint project between friends.

I imagine it must have been pretty amazing seeing that little one out of the egg for the first time!

1. Why did you start breeding ball pythons?
To feed my addiction.
2. What is the single most memorable moment you had breeding ball pythons?
This one right here:

My first baby, produced by my 1st two balls, and also my 1st morph
3. To date what is your greatest sense of accomplishment in terms of breeding?
Making it through till the end. This past year was my 1st clutch and I was super excited when I even got eggs...then to have the whole clutch hatch perfectly fine was just icing on the cake (because really...what good is a cake without icing?)

It was very cool but honestly when/if you decide to breed one day you will find out that regardless of what is hatching that time of the year when they start pipping simply is amazing and never gets old.

1) I had been keeping reptiles for over 20 years yet had never bred(intentionally). I picked ball pythons for the experience and I figured the small clutch sizes and popularity of them would make finding homes for the babies a relatively easy task.
2) Definitely seeing that first clutch of pearly whites in the tub with mamma snake.
3) Hatching black eyed leucistics this year. I was digging on them 4 years ago when I came across the "white" snake on Bob Clark's site. Just buying the het pair was a stretch of my available funds back then, sure was nice to see that project come to fruition.
4) I'm 6 feet under, pushing up daisies.

I'm really looking forward to producing super fires! I have all the ingredients, just need to make it happen now!

Same here. I LOVE animals and imagine they will always be a huge part of my life.
If all goes well this coming season I have a couple of projects with a friend of mine that have some potential 6/7 gene combo possibilities... not sure what a Twilight Butter Spinner Blast would look like, but I'd like to find out. The odds are ridiculous, but hey... one can dream.
