Is she ready or just overweight

This season would be my first time breeding and i have a '10 female normal that's a little over 3 feet and 1290grams that i plan on breeding this season she will hit the 1500 by the time i start pairing, now my concern is she looks tubby i have a '10 1100 gram pastel male thats longer and skinnier. so my question is: is she obese or do all snakes grow differently? from what i understand she will be good to breed because thicker = better but shes only like 3'2" - 3'6"

    thanks!

im just worried i might have gotten a little excited about breeding and fed her too much =P shes been on a small rat 60-80 grams every 4 days

always takes the rat right away though never a hesitation shes an amazing eater

She looks good to me. Females tend to be thicker than their male counterparts, in my experience.

I'm sure cooling isn't necessary, but it has worked well for me. To each his own.

    Where do you live?

I live in Florida and I cool. It is 50/50 and there is no textbook method to breeding ball pythons. Everyone does something a bit different. I took multiple techniques and made my own and it works for me. You have to figure out what will work best for you.

I start pairing Thanksgiving week so you have at least a couple of months of feeding.

I fine tuned this breeding guide to fit my needs

You could get a second thermostat (or Herpstat 2) to control two zones in the same rack, depending on how your heat tape runs (one continuous piece or individual sections). Or, you can cool everyone. You might knock somebody off feed that isn't breeding, but that's probably the only risk, as long as you keep your ambient temps good (cooling only refers to hot spot temps).

I really wouldnt worry about cooling. I dont cool my girls and they breed fine. I dont keep them like 90s though. Its each their own as the previous poster said. She is ready you could pair now really.
