How much are your two-year-olds eating?

Last summer they ate like crazy. This summer, not so much. Are your two-year-olds eating less than when they were one?

If all of your snakes are going off feed at the same time, I'd check the husbandry again. It could be a probe has moved and your temps have changed, etc. I've seen no difference in feeding response due to age. Good luck!

Still eat the same, 1 small rat once a week whether they are 1 or 2 or 6 years old

Re: How much are your two-year-olds eating?

Thanks for the info. They're eating fine this year and all females are up to breeding weight for the winter. It's just that last summer the girls made total pigs of themselves. I thought they might pig out every summer. Guess not.

Interesting... I'm still feeding "small-mediums". They run about 70 to 100 grams. I was thinking of moving up to the next size after these run out. How big are your "smalls"? Maybe I should stick with the size I have.

Re: How much are your two-year-olds eating?

Mine at home all pig out each summer, and slow down as temps start to cool in fall, regardless of age. A couple here and there will hit the "wall" around 600 to 800 grams where they skip meals for a lil bit, but that usually corresponds to their weight, and less to time of year.

I am also interested. How big are your small rats in grams? Do you still vary the size of prey depending on size of snake once they reach adult hood? Or just feed the same small rats to all of them? (e.g., even a 3000 gram snake gets small rat, and 1000 gram snake gets small rat?)

Anything 500g+ in my house gets one small rat/week (~50-80g). Occasionally, based on what I have, the bigger ones will get a second helping or a medium rat.
