    Creature of the night

Saw this guy on the driveway tonight. Thought I would share. I think it's a Wolf Spider but if someone knows otherwise please feel free to speak up. I am no expert nor lover of arachnids for that matter.

I'm not a spider guy so I can't help with your ID, but great pictures!

    How big was it?

    Amazing photographs!

Do you have a pretty big zoom on your camera, or were you actually brave enough to get that close ?

Actually this was shot with an old Cannon A70 which has a closeup mode, so the end of the lense was about 5 inches from the spider. Not a great camera but it captures pretty good detail in that mode. I cropped the photos and zoomed in with photoshop. I hate spiders. So trust me when I say if it had moved while my hand was that close, the neighbors would have heard me scream like a little girl.

Beautiful pictures. But no, I don't like spiders. You wouldn't have caught me that close to it. Can't those wolf spiders jump quite the distance?
