Feeding..Stress?
Hey everyone, first time posting here!
I recently just got my 1st BP about a 6 days ago..
I was worried about stress levels for him, for the last week I've been fighting the good fight against low humidity levels in his glass tank here in dry SoCal..my question is he ate for me 1st try yesterday..a live mouse weanling/crawler..I Understand thay BPs are picky eaters and have no problem refusing a meal if everything isnt perfect...so is the fact that he ate for me a sign that I'm doing something right and he's not so stressed out after words..
My next question is he's only 2 1/2 month old but he looks awful tiny to me (tho im no expert) I'm getting a scale to weigh him tommorrow, he ate last night so I'm giving him the 48hr digestion period..but can anyone tell me a healthy range for a 2 1/2 month old..again I know they all grow differently but im just looking for a range..I'll post up length and weight tommorrow..
Thanks guys!

Re: Feeding..Stress?
Hi, and welcome to bp ownership and bp.net! Congrats on a successful first feed. Some bps but not all of them are picky eaters, and some are quite flexible.
If you're looking for more specific feedback on your setup, let us know your warm side/cool side/ambient temps, humidity range, substrate, heat source, kinds of hides and thermometers/t-stats.
There's so much variation in weights of youngsters that I don't know if a range will help you very much. Mine at that age have been around 170g-220g. At that size, they were eating rat crawlers/small rat pups.

Re: Feeding..Stress?
Ok thanks for the help!
Humidity 57-60%
Hot temp 91 F
Cool side 86 F
Ambient 84 F
UTH
substrate is Zoo-Med Repti Bark
using wet towl over top to keep humidity up
zoo med thermometer 1 on hot side 1 on cool and a accurite temp and humidity gauge in middle for ambient temp/humidity

Re: Feeding..Stress?
Sounds like your humidity is good. Your ambient and cool temps could come down just a bit - ambient around 80, and cool/warm sides around 79-83/88-93. You'll see a range of recommendations, but they're all right around there, give or take a couple of degrees. Have you checked out the caresheet? Here's the link:

And you'll find lots of good info here:

It's also very important that your UTH is on a thermostat so it doesn't heat up unregulated. Lots of threads available on which ones people recommend. I use Herpstats with Hydrofarms as backup.
And lastly....does little guy have a couple of hides so he can feel secure? If so, he's just a few degrees away from bp heaven.
I only started keeping bps about 3 months ago and would have been lost without this site. Glad you found it!
Oh, one more thing: post pictures, we want to see him!

Re: Feeding..Stress?
Yeah he has 2 hides..one warm side and one cool, and the UTH is regulated by a stat..tommorrow will be his first handling, tank cleaning, weigh in day so I'll be sure to post pics and thanks for the links!!
