    Humidity

I am trying to raise my humidity levels up in my tank. I have an exo-terra size small/low and I have read alot of the forums about how to get the humidiity to the right level but its just staying at a constant 46-47%. The temps on both sides are where they need to be. Ive covered alittle over half of the top of the screen and Ive placed moss in there. Is there anything else or maybe im doing it wrong. Thanks for the help much appreciated.

*The substrate - Eco earth coconut fiber.
    *Im using an UTH.
*Im using an Acu-rite that measures both hot and cold side along with the humidity & its on the ground level.
    *The water bowl is large.
*Im not sure what kind of lamp it is, it came in a snake starter kit type deal I was using 100W but that made the terrarium way to hot so i bumped it down to 75W.
*I try to mist twice a day

You can cover 80-90% of your screen with plexiglass or a damp towel. You can push the water dish to the hot side of the tank.

And sometimes the Acurites aren't accurate. I had one that had the humidity reading off by around 10%. It sounds like you're taking all the measures to ensure a good humidity. I would wait until your snake sheds. If its in one whole piece, there's no need to make any changes.

Covering as much of the screen will help out a bit, and so will moving the water bowl more towards the heat. What are your actual temps? And are you using any kind of thermostat for the UTH? Between the heat lamp that you have and a possible unregulated UTH you may have your temps a bit too high and it is drying out the tank to quickly. Check all your temps and adjust them if needed and then check out where your humidity is.

    Re: Humidity

I live in Las Vegas so it's dry here all the time, after building an enclosure the only way I could keep up my humidity levels was to make a fogger for it. I just got a humidifier and some cheap vinyl home from Lowe's and drilled a hole in the top wood of my enclosure, I run it for about 10mins and it gets my humidity right where I need it. So much easier then misting the cage literally 6x per day or more.

I covered about 85% of my lid with tape and tin foil. Make sure NO tape is inside, you only want it on the outside. I left enough room for my light to get some gradient heat in but thats it. As they are saying, the screen IS NOT the only place air can get in/out, so the air inside doesn't get stale like you would think it would!!!

Actually I'm only covering about 65-70% my bad!! But here you go!!!! Also btw, I just ordered him 2 new hides this morning so they should be here Monday or Tuesday next week!!!!

EDIT: I forgot to add, when you get your humidity up to about 55%, it will drop MAYBE 2-4 % over about a week. When I find out he is shedding, I just mist a little extra till it hits about 68 then it rises to about 70-75% and stays long enough for him to shed then its about back to normal where it SHOULD be!!!
