I got a good piece of a branch earlier, cut it smooth and all, but I am wandering, what temp and time should I bake it at to ensure its safe for my snakes tank and should I remove the bark 1st?

Can anyone throw down some input? I have read bake it for an hour on 300 or soak itin bleach, or soak it in warm water or spray it with water+vinager mixture and all. So, I am just trying to figure out the best method! Also, the bark, should it stay or should it go?

I'd go with the bake it for an hour. Lower the temp to 250. Leave the bark on or take it off, your choice.

It's in the oven now and will be out in about 15 min!!!!

Just took it out about 20 min ago, still waiting for it to cool off a bit, but it's ready to go in!!!!

I've done this before using the same method and I've never had any issues. What size is your tank? That's a good sized piece of wood you've got there. LOL

lol, its a 30 long, going to prop it up a little, may have to cut a little more off of it, but we shall see!!!
