    Interesting Daytona Expo Story

I was at the Expo walking around ogling and having a really good time. As my wife and I were near a table I heard a small group of guys say they were from Brazil. I kept looking and after a while, we bumped into these guys again. One of them was talking to a vendor who was telling him of them he could help him ship it Internationally. The vendor said it wasn't that big of an issue and the guy from Brazil kept saying "no, no, no, don't worry about that". I looked at my wife and said jokingly, I think that guy is smuggling. Well, guess what:

***The arrest came as a result of a multi-agency law enforcement detail to prevent illegal shipping of reptiles dubbed "Operation Snake Pit" which involved the USFWS, Customs and Border Protection, Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and the Transportation Security Administration.

"Operation Snake Pit focused on inspecting international and domestic shipments of reptiles coming into and being shipped from the (expo)," said FWC Major Paul Ouellette***

From the article. Great. Our tax dollars at work, because they need to have a "multi-agency detail" to inspect everything coming/going from the expo. If they spent a tenth the budget on actual issues that the FWC is SUPPOSED to cover, we wouldn't have most of the issues in the state. And the politicans all act baffled when the state goes broke and all the businesses are leaving. It's because they've beaten every small business into the dirt with over-regulating and contradictory regulations until people get disgusted and leave.

Also, stupid moron who decided to try to smuggle snakes.

I remember hearing something about this while I was down there. I'm not really surprised to see that things didn't go his way.

So, who do we have to talk to in order to get those snakes?

I know a couple of people that work for TSA at OIA and I will find out if they know anything about how to get the snakes. I'm assuming that Fish and Wildlife would be the best people to call though...def on my to do list for the AM.
