Very nice! I love me some axanthics. What made you go with SK when you started your axanthic project? I ask because I prefer VPI, but I know that it is just a matter of personal preference, so maybe a more appropriate question, if you didn't just go with SK randomly, is what about the SKs drew you to them?

For me my Axanthic journey started in 2003. At that time, while both Axanthic lines existed, I visually couldn't tell the difference between a really nice SK line vs a really nice VPI line. So I made my choice between the two lines solely based on cost. The SK line female I purchased was about 20% cheaper than a comparable VPI line.
Since then I have seen great examples of both lines and poor versions of both lines. I think in the end its not so much a matter of lineage but of selective breeding and being picky about what animals you bring into your collection that make for the best babies, subadults, and adults.
Hope that helps

It definitely does and it's a great philosophy. I've said it before but selective breeding starts with selective purchasing! I love my VPI male and het VPI female as they have almost completely black backs, which will be great when I throw my super high yellow, non-browned out Graziani line pastel male's genes into the mix.
