    Gravid Action or What?

So I had my female bee at a friends house ( 6 months ) for breeding. He states within this time she didn't appear gravid but, hugged the water bowl a couple of times and never laid any eggs. I got her home and 4 days later I check up on her and see this going on. I'm not sure how to read this..

That looks like gravid action. When was her last shed?
She's flipped up as well as has cleared the bedding. All of my girls do that near lay time.

I'm not sure of her last shed since she was not in my care, and my friend isn't sure. This wouldn't be a post lay behavior would it? Just in case of her laying eggs were concealed for any reason?

No You would have gotten a skinny empty girl back if she had laid.
He didn't write any of that down? Ay!
That would have been extreamly helpful.
That all looks prelay. Have you tried palapatating? You should be able to EASILY feel eggs.

Wink Re: Gravid Action or What?

She hasn't laid yet but she's getting close just keep an eye on her. Her flipping like that is a good indication of a gravid female...about 2-3 days before she lays it will look like she swallows a bunch of tennis balls. It really snuck up up on me with my pastel female. I was questioning it even though she had all the behaviors. But then I went to clean her cage and pulled her out and BAM looked like she swallowed seven tennis balls and laid very soon after but it was like a week or two after she shed which was contradictory to what everyone told me. Good luck! Get ur incubator ready!!!

Well I checked up on my girl tonight, and found her relaxing next to a fresh shed. Now she's swollen like crazy. Ovulation shed and now a count down ya think? Check her out..
