    How do you sex?

This is strictly for ball pythons, since other species of snakes are hard to pop(adult carpets).
How how do you sex you ball pythons?
I personally pop my bps while probe other species.

I prefer popping for both hatchlings and adults.

I rarely probe the few times I did was always because the animals were very tensed (those were adults) which made it more difficult to pop.

I thought I stumbled onto a different forum when I saw the title of this thread!

I prefer popping at any age. I haven't been comfortable with probing. I had a ball probed by a professional and they said female. I then popped him and he was very much a male!

I pop - if it's male, they're done. If I didn't get hemipenes I double check with the probe. Ain't nothing wrong with being certain!

Badly! I've managed to confirm all of the animals I've purchased by popping, but I'm really terrible with hatchlings. I'm terrified of hurting them, or I don't know, maybe I'm doing it wrong? I usually end up taking the entire clutch to the vet to get probed. I'm going to have to start probing them myself, because I just don't trust my popping.

Yeah, that's what the vet does. It's very solid when he does the popping: penes all the way, or no penes. And then he double checks the girls with the probe.

I only have 2 yearling bp's both I have popped not probed. They are so much easier to pop then my colubrids! My new kingsnake didn't need to be popped when I got him, he musked me and everted his penes lol!

As for my corns I pop the hatchlings and probe the bigger ones. I can tell by feel when the probe goes in if it's a boy or girl. So I don't have to stick the probe in very far.

Edited to add Both my BP's are males lol

I pop all of our snakes from hatchlings to adults. I do have a set of probes and will use those on possible females sometimes to confirm my pops. Males are pretty obvious and usually do not need to be probed.
