Hey all,
I recently noticed an odd kink-like area on my new corn female that I've had since late June. It almost looks like a kink, though she hasn't been through any trauma while in my care nor did she have this when I first got her so I'm wondering what it could be?
It's a hard mass (though not like a definable bump: it feels like it's a whole solid area) that's located right by (or possibly on) her spin at the end of her tail right above her cloaca. She's been eating and passing urine/urates/feces just fine and doesn't seem to be bother by touching the area. The previous owner said she paired her to another corn awhile ago (long before I came to own her) without getting any eggs from her so I don't believe it's an egg (though I don't have experience with egg bound snakes).
I've been reading that some corns can get "hips" or fatty deposits around their tail area from being a bit too chunky. Though I read these are smooshy to the touch, and this area on her feels solid almost like bone. Could it be a tumor? Or some sort of damage to her spine? Can snakes just suddenly become kinked as they age and as they grow, like they had a minor kink when younger and it becomes more apparent as they age (though she was still an adult at 550 grams when I got her in June)? Or if they have trauma to an area can a kink appear (ie if she had some sort of trauma to the area before I came to own her 2+ months ago)?
Any thoughts are welcome, thanks!
