Ghost line comparison for recessive projects

    Hey everyone,

I am thinking of starting an "ultra glow" project with my ultramel boys, and I'm looking to get a hypo female for this season. I have a question though... which hypo line should I use? What are the differences between the lines? Which lines are most commonly used for caramel glow projects? I'm also wondering if I should choose an orange ghost or another ghost lines for the glow project.

    Suggestions?

I would suggest Orange Ghost. It's the most sought after, and IMO the softest hypo. You'll have an easier time selling offspring if it's compatible with what's popular.

My stand on hypos are the same with pastels or anything thing else with a "line" attached to it.

Forget about the line, get an animal you think looks the best. Most hypos that make me go "wow" don't have a line name attached to them, it was all careful selective breeding and probably a little luck. 99% of the time it's going to be compatible with orange ghost/yellow ghost/peach ghost/grey ghost/butter scotch ghost/*insert color i may of forgot here* ghost/standard hypo.

Desert Ghost if you can afford it.

Otherwise, get the nicest Orange Ghost you can pry away from someone.

id agree wth the above poster that said forget about the line and look at the snake its self, and the parents. Ive seen some nice super pastels from a good line throw some of the most drab looking pastels i wouldnt even take for free.

I agree that the line doesn't matter as much, but I would think that orange ghost and regular ghost are pretty different, no? Those two were the ones I was thinking of the most. I've not actually worked with any of the BP hypo strains, so I'm the first to admit how unknowledgeable I am. An Ultramel Desert Ghost.... I think I just messed myself

ohhwataloser hit the nail on the head, I 100% agree.

Just find the prettiest darned hypo female you can. Ignore what line it's from.

When you do find one you like, make sure to ask what lines theirs are compatible with. Customers of your will want to know.
