My first cycle with my first BP....
I came checked in on my BP rescue today after being gone since Tuesday and I noticed she was deep in blue. What else should I do to help her shed? When she came to me, she had a severe stuck shed. She's my first BP and I would love for this shed to run flawlessly.
Cool side: 75-77*
Warm Side: 89-91*
Humidity: after a misting, it's 80% (yes...I realize this is a little high. I didn't know how much to mist to get it at 70% so I won't be misting it anymore). Usually, it's about 50-55% without misting.
Substrate: aspen
Hides: one on cool side and one on the warm side. I've put down some damp moss under the warm hide since she spends most of her time there.
Caging: 28qt tub
Also, she was due to eat yesterday and I was going to feed her tonight. She's a vigorous eater and has yet to refuse a meal for me. Should I try to feed her tonight or will that cause more harm then good? I've noticed there's some who say it increase their chances of regurg and some who say if they eat it, then offer it shed or not.

Re: My first cycle with my first BP....
I would just wait before I tried anything to help shed. It should clear itself this shed your humidity and temps look good. The moss in the hides will help raise the humidity in the hide As for feeding I would give it a try I have one who refuses to eat from the time her belly goes pink until she sheds and then she is hungry and eating great as always. A couple of mine will eat in shed but they are not nearly as agressive. Hope this helps

Re: My first cycle with my first BP....
Your setup sounds great. You can offer her food tonight and she may or may not take it, but it isn't going to cause her any harm to try (assuming you are not leaving live prey unattended while her vision is limited). You don't need to do anything else, just let her go through the process. If she doesn't get it all off within a day or two of starting, then you can start looking at stuck shed tips. Note: Her eyes will clear up and she will look almost normal for a few days/week before shedding. This does NOT mean her shed is stuck.

Re: My first cycle with my first BP....
I have two corns, so I'm familiar with the shedding process (I've had one for almost a year) but what's new for me is the extra variable of humidity. I forgot to mention that her stuck shed was removed about two weeks ago (my apologies!), so that's not an issue anymore. It was a full shed that she failed to actually shed and when I pulled her out a few weeks ago, I noticed it was starting to get really flaky. I just damped a rag and let her explore the rag and she got the shed off that way.
This is her first time to shed completely on her own and I'm just a worried mamma and want things to go smoothly for her. I'm really hoping by early next week I wake up to a nice full shed in her cage. As for her food, I only feed F/T and she's pretty good about taking it right off the tongs after a little "dancing" from the rat.

Well, Fluffy ate her rat with no issues! She has her appetite even when in shed.
