    Should I back feeding??

My recent 0.1 Pinstripe and 0.1 Spider have been feeding on small/med. rats (40- 60g rats) every 5 days. They act perfectly fine and go about their business as usual.... usually balled up right where the tubs are 88-90F when I open them to feed/change water/clean tubs.

I'm just wondering if this kind of weight gain is OK, or should I back off? I just want to be safe. I hate to back off and get them off their current 5 day cycle, but here is the weight gain on each....

7/20/12- Spider at arrival 425g... one shed, 5 feedings as of today and we are at 610g prior to feeding. She happy as a lark!!
7/20/12- Pinstripe at arrival- 480g... one shed, 5 feedings as of today and we are at 744g prior to feeding (minus a ~30g big poop this morning)

They waste ZERO time feeding every 5 days and strike within seconds. They are both probably heading to shed again soon as they are dulling up a bit, but eyes are still clear.

My 1.0 Lesser is right on pace with them. He was 224g on 6/11/12. He was on strike for 3 weeks after I got him, so he really didn't take his first meal till 7/2/12... 8 feedings till today and he's 345g prior to feeding this am... started him on rat pups, went to crawlers and he had his first small rat this morning.

All other babies are on 5 day schedules as well and are doing great. My Bee may have had a big pup once as he looked kinda "bulgy" the day after he took it, but he's since pooped it out and shed yesterday.

Personally, I'd move the girls to a 7-day schedule (it's just what I do ~500g), but the prey size is fine. It won't hurt them to eat every 5 days, either, but there will be more poop.

    The Lesser sounds on track.

I have every Monday off, so feeding the big girls on just Mondays is not a problem.

My only issue sometimes comes into play on the little guys.... rat pups are delivered on Thursdays and they go fast from my local shop, so I have to get a handful on Thursday/Friday and pay for pups for them to hold some back a few days sometimes.

Even though it helps them grow faster to feed the little guys every 4-5 days, they would really be fine with a 7-day schedule, too. They might grow a little more slowly, but it isn't going to stunt them longterm. Just food for thought if there are weeks where the pre-paying and double pickups are too much of a hassle.

I feed girls as much as I can get into them, because I know they're going to take a winter off when they hit adolescence.

Just out of morbid curiosity, did you actually weigh the poop?

No, but it looked the size of a 30g rat crawler.
