    field herping.... in my house

Walked out of my bedroom to find this snake quickly moving down the hallway. I don't know who scared who more, me or the snake. I live in the country and have had, on rare occasion, a wild snake in the garage or basement but never one that actually made it upstairs. He/She is about 4 ft long and I am assuming it is a black rat snake.

Cool find. Well look at it this way. You shouldn't have a mouse problem at all.

I have a very small colony of breeding rats that had 2 litters last week, and while I don't mind the occasional free meal to the local wildlife, I have the rats for my BPs. I will offer this guy a meal and turn him loose, further out in the country where he can do his hunting elsewhere
