    Rodent rack drinking valves

I know of the edstrom variflow valves but I was wondering if anyone else was using any other brands of drinking valve. I will be raising ASFS.

    Re: Rodent rack drinking valves

I recently bought some from Reptile Basics (his own model). they use a spring instead of the diaphragm in the Edstrom valves. I like them better. They don't seem to leak (drip) like the Edstroms.

I second the Reptile Basics valves. I've been using them for a couple months now and haven't had any leak or drip problems whatsoever.

Ive had the total opposite sucess with RBI valves. I found the ones i had leaked easier and needed to be cleaned way more often. When I did disassemble them I didnt find and spring though.

I had the same experience with the RBI valves. I ended up throwing all of them out after they all started leaking a month and half in from the time of purchase. The VariFlow valves by Edstrom as well as the standard size seem to be somewhat better quality. I still occasionally have on that leaks but not every one of them as happened with the RBI valves.

If you have issues with anything you get from RBI, I would recommend talking to Rich about it before you just chalk it up to experience and replace it. My experience has been that he is a very stand up guy and knows customer service...something kind of hard to come by these days. If something he sells you isn't working like it should, he makes it right.

Are you sure you had the RBI valves? There is definitely a spring in the valve. When you unscrew the two pieces of the valve the spring freely falls out. Here is a link to the valve I'm referencing:

    http://www.reptilebasics.com/rodent-watering/rodent-drinking-valve/

I've been using them for a good while now with no issues. I'll keep an eye on them and post an update if they do start leaking.
