Building Water Supply for Racks
Hi, I found the water tubing at Lowes as well as the Ts and its 1/4. Does anyone know if the 3/16 drinking valve will fit the 1/4 tubing? Thanks

I'm not sure about that. If you are going to pay the shipping for the valves you might as well buy everything online and know it fits. Are you getting your valves from Reptile Basics?

I'd just get everything from him and make it easy on yourself. You might save 10 cents at lowes, but if you can get everything together, know it fits, and know you can get more just like it in the future, I would just get it from Reptile Basics. The owner is a great guy and will answer any questions you have. To me it's worth buying everything from him because I trust him to take care of me so I like to give him my business. Just my two cents

Use the clear 1/4" tubing from Lowes or Home depot. It will fit perfectly and easier to manipulate and harder for them to chew through. We build racks weekly and use the clear instead of the black dripline.

I would just buy the stuff from RBI, the shipping isn't much different from what you will already be paying for shipping. I buy all my watering system from RBI, it is a very quick process.
Also, just for note, I would NOT use the clear tubing for the whole system, maybe in little 1 foot spans or something, but the clear tubing, I was told, will promote algae growth and other stuff you don't want floating in your water, it can clog the valves and not be good for the animals.

Re: Building Water Supply for Racks
We just use the clear line from Lowes or Home Depot. Seems to work better for us and I can tell if there is a blockage or air in the line and is much more user friendly (flexible) than the black drip line. We have used it for a couple years now and haven't had any line breaks like we had with the black line.

I saw the clear line at Walmart for $3.50 for 25'. Does it get mildew and will the drinking valves fit on it? Thanks

We have used the clear tubing for over 6 years and have never seen any algae growth not once. Just our $0.02 worth. Yes the valves will fit on it. We have never experienced any mold or mildew.
