Need advice.

I just had 5 eastern hoggie eggs hatch and I'm looking for advice on how to get them started on pinky mice. I don't want to get toads or frogs anywhere near them because that is all they will want afterwards. They are in shed now after hatching only 3 days ago. Thanks for any replies.

Not really familiar with hoggies but try braining the pinks. Take a knife and cut a small slit in the skull and squeeze out some brain juices. This is used to convert balls to f/t sometimes, maybe it could work for you.

Also scenting the pinks with a frog may help.

Thanks Mike, I'll try braining the mice pinks. I don't want to scent the pinks, I'll be stuck scenting every meal for them and toads can be really hard to get hold of in January.

Get a toad, humanely euthanized it, and keep it in your freezer in a tupperware. Then every week pull it out and rub the pinks on it. Then toss it back in the freezer when your done with it.

EDIT: this is just if you want to. Idk if one way would be better than the other.

I've heard of doing that before. How long do you think the toad will last? In order to transfer the scent, doesn't the toad have to be thawed out first? That could get rather smelly pretty quick.

Um im really not sure. Yucky smells dont really phase me since i work in a nursing home haha.

I dont think it has to be thawed. Try it and if the snake doesnt take it then let the toad thaw a bit and rub the pink on it and try again
