Question When do I know to feed larger mice?

Hi all, I bought my ball python about a week ago, and when I bought him I was told to feed him fuzzies. I fed him today and I saw that the mouse wasn't at all noticeable in the thicker part of his body. Is it time to graduate him to bigger mice? When exactly do I know to upgrade?

I know the rodent is suppose to be as thick as the thickest part of his body, but when exactly can I tell when I should get bigger food, without spending the money on a too small mouse?

    is this live or f/t?

I'd say when you go to wherever you get your [live] mice, jus try to find a mouse just slightly bigger, there are sizes [many] in between the general sizes advretized..

If you are feeding frozen, I don't think feeding one size up will hurt much, especially if the last one didn't make a huge bump. you could also feed less often if there are larger meals.

First off what does your snake weigh ??

This is an important step in figuring out feeder size !!

The day I go and buy my feeders I will scale my guys (Empty) then pick up feeders at 10 12 and 15% that way I can walk with thee weight gain and be assured they are getting what they need

The best thing you can do is go pick up a kitchen scale from walmart, etc.

Weigh your snake. A bp should be eating 10-15% of their body weight.

For example: a 300g bp should be fed approx 30 grams.

IMO, this is the easiest way to feed.

How old is your bp? Is it rat fuzzies or mice fuzzies it's eating?
