Help - Dermal Edema in Spider Female
Hi all, any help or thoughts on this would be much appreciated. We brought our 5 month old 260 gram spider to the vets yesterday for lethargy, soft feeling mushy skin, and not gaining weight. We have had her for about 6 weeks or so. She always seemed slightly off (Not as active) compared to the other pythons but never as concerning as she was yesterday. The vet believes her skin is Edema (my first thought too - soft, mushy fluid feeling skin), but we don't know why. We sent out a fresh fecal sample to be tested for parasites and also attempted to collect blood, but due to dehydration or stress, we were unable to get a sample (hit the vein, but low pressure). We are going to keep her warm and soak her Saturday before going back for a second attempt and find out the fecal results. Hopefully we will get some answers, but have you guys ever seen this or have any ideas what the cause could be? No signs of mites. So total symptoms are Dermal Edema, Lethargy, and no weight gan (not necessarily loss, but despite aggressive feeding schedule no gain). Any help or ideas will be greatly appreciated!!
