    Humidity in my rack

Hey everyone, so i just set up my hatchling rack on friday and prepared two tubs for my pickups on saturday (two 130 - 150g female ball pythons. A bumblebee het axanthic and a spider het piebald).

The humidity in the tubs have been between 70-75% which I am afraid is quite high, condensation was on the front of the tub too and the substrate was a little moist. I now just added three more airholes to the front of the tubs and am waiting to see how much it declines.

My hotspot is at 90 and ambient around 78-80. Using a herpstat thermo, and an acu rite in one of the tubs to record humidity.

Should I be concerned about the humidity? If I change out the substrate (which is a bit moist) would i get a better reading now of what the difference is now with the three added holes? I do not mist the tubs, only have water bowls on the cool side.

Let me know what you guys think! Thanks a lot!

someone might suggest paper towel, then see where your humidity is.

Update: I set up a mock tub with new dry substrate and the humidty stayed at 70%. Going to add 4 more holes 2 more to the front and 2 to the side. Hoping that will get our humidty between 50-65%

    70% isn't bad.
I know some people have 70-75% as a constant humidity. I personally like to keep my tubs around 60-65%. As long as there is no standing moisture on the bottom or sides of the tub, you're fine. I know the caresheet says 50%, but I honestly think that's low. If you look at the humidity in Africa, it is higher than that.

Also the Acurites aren't always exact. I've had several that all read something different. They were all at least ~10 degrees and ~10% off from each other

Okay cool, thanks! I just added those new holes just hoping to stay somewhere between 50-70 at most. There was some condensation on the front of the tub which led me to be a bit worried. Going to changeout the damp substrate too tonight if it doesnt dry by tonight and see how the humidity reads then!

Acu rites are hard to find here in Canada but I like mines so far. Picked it up when I was in michigan a couple weeks ago.
