Question Handling: How Much is too Much?

I'm getting a ball python (my first snake) in about a week. I've heard that you should leave your new snake alone for 2-3 days. I've also heard a week. Which is best?
Also, once your ball python has settled in, how much handling is too much? 10 mins a day? 30? I'm just asking because I don't want to stress my new snake too much by overhandling.
Any tips or info would be great.

Leave your snake for around 5 days, handle for 5 minutes a day after that and start building up the time.
Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened.

I leave all my new snakes alone for at least a week. I don't start handling them at all until they have eaten a few meals. I only handle for about 10-15 minutes at the most once or twice a week. I also have a bunch of snakes to choose from, so your handling time may differ.

The biggest thing with a new baby BP is to get/keep them eating. Wait until he/she has eaten for you a couple of times before going on any kind of "regular" handling schedule, and avoid handling at all for the first few meals if your baby refuses a meal for a reason other than going into shed. I usually offer mine their first meal within 3-5 days of coming home, and then give a couple more days after eating for digestion, and then try handling.
