    So it happened...

Last night my boyfriend and I were doing a Marvel/DC movie night, and our snake tubs are temporarily arranged right next to the living room on the dining table. We were getting ready to switch to the next film and all the sudden we heard this... noise. My boyfriend didn't pay much mind because he thought it was a critter outside puking or getting it on or something, but I was sure it was from the tubs. Neither of us could really identify what it had been, and to be safe I went and opened everyone's tubs/tanks to check.

I wish I'd gotten a picture... my mojave male was sitting in the middle of a runny poo mess all over his freaking tub. It also means he had such a loud sloppy fart that I couldn't even tell what it was without context I've seen multiple snake fart threads on here, and sorry to add to the pile but I have to admit that I always chalked those stories up to being exaggerated. To the community: I'm sorry I doubted you, and I wish I'd been able somehow to predict it and tape that, because I NEVER knew snakes could make noises like that.

Good news: I had looked in his tub earlier that day because I saw a pile of shed, and it was complete/collect worthy. Being a shed hoarder I was happy about it, and as soon as the sun comes out I'll have some freshly shed pics (I love doing those!)

Bad news: He's never had stools this runny, so if it happens again it's back to the vet with him. We took him a couple months ago for a tiny swelling under his chin. The vet took some fecals and blood tests, and said he wasn't sick, but his results weren't normal either, so I've been watching like a hawk for anything weird. Ah well

Now that I'll believe you ( ) You guys have good snake fart stories?

Somewhere in the "General Pythons" section is an old thread titled Do Snakes Fart? I can't link it from my phone, but it is there, and should provide you with some entertaining reading...

I'm glad you posted, because a similar thing happened to me a couple days ago. I'm not sure which snake it was(all tubs were clean when I checked), but one of them farted loud enough to wake me up in the middle of the night! I am now a true snake-fart believer.
    Herps are cool.

One of the attractions of outdoor pursuits activities for many people is that life is reduced to the barest essentials, and in the process a more intimate connection to the natural world is established. Food that would be trashed or fed to the dog at home tastes wonderful, a cup of murky water is much appreciated, and after a few days, even a thin sleeping pad can feel like a comfortable mattress as tired bones are able to rest after a hard day's work.

I was palpating one of my girls for folliclies and she let one rip. To hear it is one thing, but to FEEL it is a whole different ball game.

What do you mean that it wasn't healthy? Was it just runny or were there some other abnormalities that came up? Nice story! LOL

Haha, total surprise to me I'll tell ya. It wasn't necessarily unhealthy, but because his results for the vet visit were so ambiguous I've been looking for anything unusual. No real abnormalities other than the runny stool and his urates were mixed in, so I'm going to wait for the next bowel movement to see what happens. He's eating/shedding/thermogulating fine, so I'm hoping it's nothing!

I was cleaning tubs and waterbowls one time a couple of weeks ago and decided to weigh my het pied who is a growing/feeding machine and she took a dump on my foot.... It was so loud! A big ole fart that took me by complete surprise followed shortly thereafter by a massive terd that got cozy with my toes...

Yes. They will make a believer out of you. You will believe they made that sounds when you are washing snake and scrubbing bins. And yes, the "That's not healthy" thought is completely normal. The smug little look on their faces makes you believe that they feel much better!

My little guy must have had a "Dumb and Dumber" moment with the one guy on the toilet. Mouth open and shaking, the whole 9 yards.
