    Minor scale rot?

I'm having a few problems with my ball python, some of his scales are cracked and dry looking, and his belly has a yellow tint,
Im worried it might be scale rot. I have him on a exoterra medium rain forest heat pad with a rheostat to regulate it. His temperatures are fine,i have a probed thermometer above his bask spot. his bask averages from 90 -91, and nighttime it falls down to about 85 or slightly lower.I keep his humidity to around 50-60,*note i don't have a problem with shed, he has complete sheds*and i keep his cold side at room temperature.I am new to snakes, but i dont know how he got it, i don't keep his bedding moist, and i spot clean regularly, his substrate is zoo med aspen.

Also he had the chipped scales before shed, when he shed they came right off, but they're back and he isn't suppose to shed til next month or so
    * i will try to post pictures*

any help or tips will be GREATLY appreciated.

    Re: Minor scale rot?

It is hard to say for sure what's going on without being able to see it. Pictures will definitely be a big help for us to help you!

What kind of bedding are you using? How large is the cage that its in?

If it is only minor scale discoloration, it may just be that it's time to clean the cage, or the substrate you are using might be staining the scales. Can you provide us with a little more information?

I'm using zoomed aspen snake bedding, and he is in a 40 gallon zilla critter cage
*i had him in a 10 gallon, but when he got bigger, i had to put him in larger tank.
He really loves his tank he's always slithering around playing on his vine and his leaves.

I don't see scale rot at all, looks like an impending shed if anything.
