    Probe Placement ??

Putting together an enclosure for an Albino hatchling that is coming soon. Enclosure is a Sterilite tub slightly larger than a 10gal tank, turned on it's side with a drop down door framed on the front. Flexwatt on a Hydrofarm thermostat supplies the basking spot.
I am concerned about the temps in my house being too cool during the colder months, so I mounted a light dome on top, with a ceramic heat element to raise the ambient temps in the tub. I am going to control the ceramic bulb with another hydrofarm thermostat. So my question is this...... where would you suggest mounting the probe of the thermostat that regulates the heat lamp ?? Obviously it will be on the cool side. But should it be placed on the bottom of the tub, or a few inches up on the side to best read the ambient temp ??
